Terri Clark - Girls Lie Too

I'm surprised Terri Clark's Dirty Girl didn't chart higher earlier this year. I thought it was a really good song, and Terri's looking really hot these days ! It peaked at #30 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Terri's last #1 hit was 2004's Girls Lie Too. I love this video. It features a Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow look-a-like and is a very creative video. Enjoy!

Trace Adkins - I Got My Game On

I Got My Game On was originally supposed to be the lead single from a new album by Trace title Game On, but the album was cancelled because Trace is going to be appearing on episodes of NBC's The Apprentice. Instead, the song is included on his second greatest hits album titled American Man: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2. Enjoy!

Kenny Chesney's Don't Blink Is #1 For The 2nd Week In A Row On The Billboard Hot Country Charts

For the week of November 3, 2007, Kenny Chesney's Don't Blink is the #1 song on the Billboard Hot Country charts for the second week in a row. One song to keep an eye on this next week is Garth Brook's More Than a Memory. It's back up to #6 on the countdown after slipping to #8 last week. You'll remember that it debuted at #1 on the charts, becoming the first country single to do so. Could it rise back up to #1? We'll see... Here is the new top five for the week:
  1. Kenny Chesney - Don't Blink
  2. Dierks Bentley - Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)
  3. Tim McGraw - If You're Reading This
  4. Carrie Underwood - So Small
  5. Toby Keith - Love Me If You Can

Billy Currington - Good Directions Fan-Made Video

Good Directions was Billy Currington's second #1 Billboard Hot Country single. It spent three weeks atop the charts in 2005. It was his second #1 single from his 2005 album, Doin' Something Right, and his 2nd #1 hit overall. Must Be Doin' Something Right was the first #1.

This video is actually a homemade video to the song by a guy named Jason Dodge. It's not bad, but it sort of has the feel of a low budget Cinemax skin flick if you ask me. What do you think? Enjoy!

Where Are They Now? Blackhawk - Every Once In A While

In the 90's Blackhawk consistently put out top 40 singles. Every Once In A While from their self-tiled debut album from 1994 went all the way to #2 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Throughout the 90's they had a lot of success on the charts, but they haven't been able to recapture that same type of success in the 2000's. There last top 10 hit was 1999's There You Have It, which peaked at #4.

The main reason for this was the untimely death from skin cancer of vocalist/guitarist Van Stephenson in April 2001. They've had a couple of different lead singers since Van's death, but unfortunately, they haven't been able to make it back to the top of the charts. Here's the video for their #2 hit from 1994, Every Once In A While. Enjoy!

Gary's last top five hit on the charts was last year's Life Ain't Always Beautiful, which peaked at #4 on the charts. I'm not sure if Watching Airplanes will make it that high, but it is a good song. Sixwire From The Next Great American Band - Look At Me Now

I just watched this band sing "It's Good To Be Back" on the new FOX series, The Next Great American Band. They've actually been around for a while now and they sounded really great on the show. I wasn't familiar with them, so I Google'd them and found some videos they had made some years back when they had a record deal with Warner Brothers. Willie Nelson has been releasing a new album almost every year since his first album in 1962. In 2006, he released You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker, in which every song was written by the late Cindy Walker, who wrote many notable songs like Dream Baby sung by Roy Orbison. Where Are They Now? Kentucky Headhunters - Oh Lonesome Me

The Kentucky Headhunters burst onto the country scene back in 1989 with their debut album called Pickin' on Nashvile which went double platinum. They had four big singles from the album with the biggest being their top 10 hit Oh Lonesome Me.

The original lineup split up after 1992, and they haven't been able to match the same type of success they had from their first few albums. Brothers Doug and Ricky Lee Phelps left the band in '92 to form the group Brother Phelps. They had one hit single called Let Go, and then they split up. Doug rejoined the Headhunters and replaced Ricky Lee as lead vocalist.

Their latest album of original material is 2005's Big Boss Man, and the first single from that album is also called Big Boss Man. It has more of a southern rock vibe than country. Enjoy!

I was doing a little research about the Hot Country charts this morning, and I found out something I didn't know. Did you know that LeAnn Rimes has had only one #1 single on the Billboard Hot Country charts? It's her 1996 single One Way Ticket (Because I Can). It's amazing with all her other hits, that this is her only #1.

Where Are They Now? Steve Earle - Someday

Steve Earle has had one helluva ride to get to where he is today. He just released a new album this year called Washington Square Serenade. His last single to chart was 1990's The Other Kind.

Steve's addiction to heroin has been well-documented. From Wikipedia.com, "Earle had been a drug user since an early age, and was addicted to heroin for many years. By the time of his 1990 album "The Hard Way", it started to become clear that the drugs were seriously affecting him. In 1993, his drug problems resulted in him effectively stopping performing and recording for two years, a period he refers to as his "vacation in the ghetto".

He eventually ended up in jail on drug and firearms charges. Kicking the drug habit while in jail, Earle came out a new man and released two albums within 18 months of his release in late 1994. His comeback album, the acoustic Train A Comin', was nominated for the "Best Contemporary Folk Album" Grammy Award in 1996."

Lately, besides releasing a new album, he has a recurring role on the HBO series The Wire where he plays a recovering drug addict. My favorite song by Steve is his 1986 single Someday. I used to love to ride around in my car in high school and listen to his Guitar Town cassette, and Someday was my favorite song on the tape. Enjoy!

Sara Evans' Greatest Hits CD Released Today

Sara Evans is one of my favorite country music singers. She's had a very eventful life over the last year or so - Dancing With the Stars, A messy divorce and even rumors of affairs with almost every male country singer out there. At least today, she's making news for the right reason - A New Greatest Hits album! It's a good one too. If you'd like to buy it, it's available through Amazon.com right now.

In honor of the release, here's Sara's first #1 country hit. It's her 1999 duet with Vince Gill called No Place That Far. Enjoy!

Lonestar - Amazed - #1 Country and Pop Hit

I was doing a little research today about songs that topped both the country and pop charts, and the last song to do this was Lonestar's song Amazed. It spent eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts in 1999 and it spent two weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2000. They have nine #1 country songs to their credit so far.

It'll be interesting to see how they do with new singer Cody Collins, who is from Woodstock, GA, which is just a few short miles from where I live. Enjoy!

The Lost Trailers - Why Me and Hey Baby

Sometimes the ACC Top 40 baffles me. Why Me by the Lost Trailers is a great song. It was played very heavily on the radio here in Atlanta, and the guys even appeared on the CMT Top 20 countdown earlier this year. But, the song never made it into the Top 40 on the countdown.
