Brad's got another huge hit on his hands. He re-recorded Waitin' On A Woman as a bonus track to his latest 5th Gear album. It was originally on his 2005 Time Well Wasted album. The video features Andy Griffith as the older gentleman who talks to Brad in the video. It's a good bet that this song will be Brad's eighth #1 country single in a row. It's currently sitting at #26 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Enjoy!
Memo to anyone attending a Tim McGraw concert: If you're gonna act like an a$$, don't do it near the stage, or Tim will personally help kick your unruly butt out of the arena...literally. Enjoy!
In Color is the latest single from Jamey Johnson. It's currently sitting at #40 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. I really like this song. Jamey's been known primarily as a songwriter, and his excellent songwriting definitely shows through on this song. Back in 2006, he scored a top twenty hit with The Dollar, which peaked at #14 on the country charts. Enjoy!
Crystal Shawanda's rise to fame was documented by CMT in the six-part series Crystal: Living the Dream, which aired in February 2008. Her first single is called You Can Let Go, and so far, it has made it to #36 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. However, it was a top five single on the Canadian Country charts, peaking at #5. Enjoy!
Heidi is best known as her role as the lead singer for Trick Pony. She left the band back in 2006 to pursue a solo career, and the first single from her first solo album is called Johnny and June. The song is a tribute to Johnny and June Cash, whom Heidi became close with during the last five years of their life. In this video, Heidi talks about the song and her relationship with the Cash's. Enjoy!
Do You Believe Me Now is the first single from Jimmy Wayne's upcoming second album due out in August. He hasn't released the name of the album yet, but Do You Believe Me Now is currently sitting at #25 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Jimmy's highest charting single to date was Stay Gone, which was the first single from his first album. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Country charts back in 2003. Enjoy!
Kenny Chesney's Better As A Memory jumped up from #4 last week to #1 this week on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This is Kenny's 14th #1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Here is the complete Top 10 for the week:
Here's Kenny performing Better As A Memory live at the 2008 ACM Awards Show: (To see videos for the other songs, just click on the song name above) Enjoy!
Real Gone is Billy Ray's first single from his upcoming Back to Tennessee album, which is scheduled for release some time later this year. It's an up-tempo song that might do pretty well on the charts. We'll see. Enjoy!
If you'd like to see Billy Ray live, be sure to pick up your tickets here.
Here's Carrie and Kenny Rogers singing Kenny and Dolly's classic hit Islands in the Stream live at the 2006 Kennedy Center Honors event honoring Dolly Parton and others. Enjoy!
If you'd like to see Carrie live, be sure to pick up your tickets here.
Back in 2003, at the age of 12, Ashley Gearing became the youngest solo artist to enter the country charts when her first single, Can You Hear Me When I Talk to You? charted on the Billboard Hot Country charts. It peaked at #37, and was her only charting single until this year when her new single, Out The Window, debuted on the charts and is currently sitting at #55 on the country charts. This video is entitled Meet Ashley Gearing and will give you an inside look at this young lady's life. Enjoy!
Kevin Fowler has released five studio albums and had two singles to chart on the Billboard Hot Country charts. The second of those two singles is his latest single called Best Mistake I Ever Made, and it's currently sitting at #51 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This is a good song, and I hope country radio will support it and send it up into the top 40 on the charts. Kevin is one of the "good ole' boys" who's been playing honkeytonks and clubs across Texas for years now, and it's about time he broke into the mainstream. Enjoy!
Carrie Underwood continues her streak of #1 hits this week as Last Name jumped from #5 last week to #1 this week on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This is Carrie's 5th #1 hit in a row on the country charts. Here is the complete Top 10 for the week:
Ashton Shepherd burst onto the scene earlier this year when her debut single Takin' Off This Pain became a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Her latest single is called Sounds So Good, and here's an interview with Ashton talking about her life and her latest single. Enjoy!
I Do is Jewel's second country single. It's following up her single, Stronger Woman, which peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. I featured her singing this song on Conan O'Brien's show a few weeks ago, and this video is from her AOL Sessions performance. Enjoy!
The "new" Lonestar performed live at the WTQR radio studios in Greensboro, NC on May 9th, 2008. This is one of the first times I've actually seen them perform with new lead singer Cody Collins. Their first single with Collins as the lead singer is called Let Me Love You, and it's currently sitting at #50 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Here they are performing the new single as well as some of Lonestar's greatest hits. What do you think of Cody? It's got to be hard filling the shoes of Richie McDonald, who has one of the most distinctive voices in all of country music. It's kinda like trying to come in and fill the shoes of Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts. Enjoy!
Like Jewel and Hootie and the Blowfish's Darius Rucker, pop queen Jessica Simpson has decided to release a country album. I have to admit, I was not expecting much from her considering I've never been a big fan of her music, but this isn't a bad song. It's actually a pretty catchy tune that will probably do pretty well on the charts. It's already moved up to #41 on the Billboard Hot Country charts after just being released.
Her official video for the song is supposed to be out some time later this month. For now, here's the song along with slides of Ms. Simpson. What do you think? Will she stay in country, or is this just a publicity attempt to get her back in the news for something other than her personal life? Enjoy!
Brad's I'm Still A Guy spends it's third week atop the charts this week. The only song to fall out of the top ten this week was George Strait's I Saw God Today, and the only new song to crack the top ten is Alan Jackson's Good Time, which moved from #12 to #10. Here is the complete Top 10 for the week:
The first time I heard Alan's new song Good Time, I wasn't that impressed, but after hearing it a couple more times, it's become one of my favorite songs on the radio today. It's completely original just like this video in which Alan attempts to create the world's longest line dance. George Jones and his wife make a cameo appearance in the video as well.
It's just entered the top ten this week on the Billboard Hot Country charts moving from #12 to #10. Enjoy!
As more and more videos from this year's CMA Music Fest trickle in, I'll add them as soon as I can. Here's footage featuring Faith Hill singing Mississippi Girl. Enjoy!
The 2008 CMA Music Fest is concluding in Nashville tomorrow. Here's some footage of Emerson Drive performing their song, A Good Man, during a private event for their fanclub in Nashville during the festival. Enjoy!
Jewel's second country single from her first country album, Perfectly Clear, is called I Do. She was on Conan O'Brien last night and did a fantastic job performing the song. Enjoy!
Here's Jo Dee Messina performing her new single I'm Done live at the KASE 101 Sprint Live Music Lounge. We've also featured Kellie Pickler from the Sprint Live Music Lounge as well as Joe Nichols. Enjoy!
I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Cross Canadian Ragweed. Their song, I Believe in You, is one of my favorite songs. Back in 2004, they teamed up with the lovely Lee Ann Womack for the song Sick and Tired. It didn't quite make it into the top 40 on the country charts, but it's a good song nonetheless. Enjoy!
Garth's latest single from his Ultimate Hits album is called Midnight Sun. It's currently sitting at #36 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. While More Than A Memory debuted at #1 on the charts, it didn't stay on top for very long. And Garth's second single from the Ultimate Hits album, Working For a Living, which was a duet with Huey Lewis, only made it to #19 on the charts.
I'm not sure if Midnight Sun will even make it into the top 20. Garth's an icon, but the country audience that's moving the needle on the charts these days is a much younger crowd, and I'm not sure if they really care for or relate to Garth's music that much. He'll still sell out stadium's when he wants to perform, but I think his days atop the charts are over. Enjoy!
Emily West is new to the country scene. Rocks In Your Shoes is her first single from her self-titled debut album. It's made it to #39 on the Billboard Hot Country charts so far. See what you think... Enjoy!
