Newcomers Crossin Dixon just released their latest single called I Love My Old Bird Dog & (I Love You Too). This is their third single, but they're yet to release an album. Their other two singles both charted on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Enjoy!
Taylor Swift's two-week run at #1 came to a halt this week as Kieth Urban's You Look Good In My Shirt became his eighth #1 single. The biggest move this week came from Kenny Chesney's Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven, which moved up from #13 all the way to #6. Here is the complete top 25 for the week:
Griffin House is one of the many unsigned artists around Nashville that tours extensively. His music is sort of a mix between rock, country and folk. I Remember (It's Happening Again) is a single from his 2007 Flying Upside Down album. Enjoy!
Dan Tyminski is best known as the guitar player and sometimes lead singer for Alison Krauss and Union Station. While Alison has been out touring with Robert Plant, Dan and his own band recorded a new album called Wheels, and the first single is the title track. Enjoy!
I really like this new song from Little Big Town. It's called Fine Line, and it's primarily sung by Little Big Town member Karen Fairchild (the black haired woman in the band for those who aren't sure which woman is which). Karen is married to Jimi Westbrook, who's the black-haired man in the band. Currently, Fine Line is sitting at #38 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Enjoy!
Melissa Lawson just won this year's Nashville Star competition. Her first single and video is called What If It All Goes Right. Melissa is the sixth winner of Nashville Star, following previous winners Buddy Jewell, Brad Cotter, Erika Jo, Chris Young and Angela Hacker. Miranda Lambert is probably the most well-known and successful performer to appear on Nashville Star. She finished third during the inaugural 2003 season, which was won by Buddy Jewel, who's also had a pretty good career so far. Enjoy!
Earlier this summer, I featured a video of Carrie singing an acoustic version of her latest single, Just A Dream. She's now released an official video for the song. The song's currently sitting at #17 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, and I'm sure it'll make it into the top ten within the next couple of weeks. Enjoy!
Taylor Swift continues to have a fantastic year. Should've Said No is #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts for the second week in a row. A few notes about this week's top 25: Darius Rucker's Don't Think I Don't Think About It entered the top ten this week moving up two spots from #12 to #10, and Jimmy Wayne's Do You Believe Me Now moved all the way from #8 to #4 this week. Here is the complete top 25 for the week:
Here's Taylor's amazing performance of Should've Said No earlier this year at the 2008 ACM Awards: (To see videos for the other songs, just click on the song name above) Enjoy!
Kenny's latest single is called Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven. The song was co-written by songwriters Jim Collins and Marty Dodson. George Strait actually recorded the song for his album Troubadour, but the song didn't make the cut for his album. Kenny chose his version to be the first single from his upcoming new album Lucky Old Sun. It debuted at #22 on the Billboard Hot Country charts a few weeks ago, and it just moved up to #13 today. The video features Bob Marley's band The Wailers. Enjoy!
George Strait's latest single, Troubadour, has made it up to #9 on the Billboard Hot Country charts so far. It's his 79th top ten country single. This is his first official music video since 2006's The Seashores of Old Mexico. I like this video because it switches between Strait singing the song and black and white photos of George performing in the past. Enjoy!
John Mellencamp's latest album is called Life, Death, Love and Freedom. It was produced by T. Bone Burnett, and it has a country rock feel to it. This video for the first single from the album called My Sweet Love is already receiving moderate rotation on CMT. Enjoy!
Of all the pop artists who have crossed over to country lately (Jessica Simpson, Jewel, etc.), Darius Rucker seems to me to be the one who has the best chance at a long career in country if he wants it. He seems very comfortable singing this song and he has a great voice for country music. Don't Think I Don't Think About It moved up to #12 on the Billboard Hot Country charts this week. Enjoy!
Wow! Taylor Swift's Should've Said No jumped up from #5 last week to #1 this week. Jumps like that don't happen very often on the country charts. They knocked Sugarland's All I Want To Do out of the top spot after only one week. This is Taylor's second #1 single on the country charts. She hit #1 last year with Our Song. Here is the complete top 25 for the week:
Here's Taylor's amazing performance of Should've Said No earlier this year at the 2008 ACM Awards: (To see videos for the other songs, just click on the song name above) Enjoy!
Love Remembers is Craig Morgan's latest single. It's currently sitting at #27 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. It's the first single from his upcoming fourth studio album, and his first release for the BNA Records label. His last single, International Harvester was a top ten hit. Enjoy!
Kellie Pickler's performance of Don't You Know You're Beautiful from the 2008 ACM Awards tied Carrie Underwood's performance of Last Name for our visitor's Favorite Performance From the 2008 ACM Awards. Here's Kellie's official music video for the song. It's currently sitting at #31 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, and it's the lead single from her upcoming self-titled album to be released later this year. Enjoy!
Suspicions was the last single Tim McGraw released in 2007. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Eddie Rabbitt first recorded the song back in 1979 when he took it to #1 on the Hot Country charts. Enjoy!
All I Ever Wanted is Chuck Wicks follow-up single to his top five hit Stealing Cinderella. It's currently sitting at #24 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Both songs are from his debut album, Starting Now. Enjoy!
I've been waiting on Brooks and Dunn to release this video. Put A Girl In It was released as a single back in May, and the song has already peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. It's currently at #4. Maybe since they just released the video not too long ago, the song will make a jump back up the charts. We'll see. Either way, it's a great song and a great video. Enjoy!
Last Call is Lee Ann Womack's first single from her upcoming Call Me Crazy album. It's currently sitting at #47 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Lee Ann's last album was supposed to be called Finding My Way Back Home and was going to be released from Mercury Nashville Records, but Lee Ann left the record label and is now releasing Call Me Crazy on MCA Nashville records later this fall. Enjoy!
Sugarland scored their third #1 Billboard Country single of their career this week as All I Want To Do moved up one spot to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. The big mover this week was Kenny Chesney's new single Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven, which debuted on the charts this week at #22. Here is the complete top 25 for the week:
No Air is Rissi Palmer's highest charting country single to date. It's a country version of Jordan Sparks and Chris Brown's duet version that peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 charts and is currently at #28. Rissi's version is currently sitting at #47 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. It's the first single from her yet unannounced second album. Enjoy!
I Love This Song is the first single off Marcel's upcoming 2008 album. Marcel released his first and only other album, You, Me and the Windshield, back in 2003. He had one song from that album chart when Country Rock Star peaked at #46 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Enjoy!
I Would is Phil Vassar's latest single from his Prayer of a Common Man album. It's currently sitting at #50 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Here's Phil singing the song live at one of his fan club events. Enjoy!
The Road Hammers are a Canadian country band who just released Blood, Sweat and Steel, which is their first release of an album in the U.S. Girl on the Billboard is the second single released from the album, and it's currently sitting at #57 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This same song peaked at #4 on the Canadian Country charts back in 2006 when it was included on their self-titled debut album. Ten of the songs on Blood, Sweat and Steel were included on their debut album. Enjoy!
I'm a big fan of Cross Canadian Ragweed. If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't miss it. They put on a great show. Back in 2002, they released their first major record label self-titled album. Constantly was the second single released from the album, and it's still my favorite song from the band. Enjoy!
Days Aren't Long Enough is the latest single from Steve Earle's 2007 album, Washington Square Serenade. This song is a duet with his wife, Allison Moorer, who also did a duet with Kid Rock on his song, Picture. Enjoy!
Close Up The Honky Tonks was the only single Dwight Yoakum released from his 2007 Dwight Sings Buck album, which was his tribute to Buck Owens. It didn't chart on the country charts, but it's a good song nonetheless. Enjoy!
