On This Day In 2002, Big Kenny Was In Major Debt And Down to His Last Dollar

I don't know Big Kenny personally (except virtually through Twitter), but I've gotta think that December 31st is always a very emotional day for him. On this day back in 2002, Kenny was in debt over $140,000 and he proceeded to lose most of his last $200 playing blackjack in a casino. He gave the dealer a $20 tip and left with one dollar in his pocket. Obviously, Big Kenny managed to not only turn his life around, but he's managed to entertain and more importantly, inspire countless fans around the world. That experience of leaving the casino with only one dollar inspired him to write Tim McGraw's future number one hit Last Dollar (Fly Away). Said Kenny about that night, "That night as I looked down at the sole breaking off of my shoe it hit me like a ton of bricks, but with that realization came the freedom of knowing that I also had nothing to lose."

Here's Big Kenny back in Vegas at the Hard Rock singing Last Dollar (Fly Away). Enjoy, be careful tonight and happy New Year everyone!

New Song Showcase – Williams Riley’s Sexy Sounds of “Country Livin’ via CountryMusicTattleTale.com

Today's Post Is From:

I thought I’d had my fill of “I’m so country” songs, but then I heard Williams Riley “Country Livin’” and dang if it didn’t change my mind! The twangy opening electric guitar riffs and fiddle immediately catch your ear ,and I dare you to not tap your cowboy boots (walking shoes, sensible heels, etc.) while listening to this ode to country girls, country life and, well, pretty much everything country, particularly a good ol’ roll in the hay!

Horses, barns, trucks, tractors — you name a country cliche, it’s in this song. But so is the line “It ain’t the grits, it ain’t the gravy; It’s that slow Southern drawl calling you baby.” Hick, sure, but smooth, fun and darn sexy.

To be honest, the whole song is, well, kind of dirty. I think. What do you read into these lyrics:

It ain’t the boots, it ain’t the hat
That’s makes a real cowboy all that.
An “8 Second Ride” ain’t the way I rodeo — Giddy-up!
It ain’t the ribs or Mama’s chicken
It’s another recipe that keeps it finger-lickin’

Fun, sexy, danceable — I love this song. Give it a listen! http://www.williamsriley.com

Jonathan Singleton & The Grove Perform An Acoustic Version Of Look Who's Back In Love

How cool would this be? It's Jonathan Singleton and the Grove performing their new single Look Who's Back In Love in Joe's BBQ restaurant in San Diego for a small group of KSON-FM listeners. Look Who's Back In Love is their second single from their still to be determined debut album.

Jonathan's no stranger to success though. He already has two number two hits on the Billboard Hot Country charts. He co-wrote Watching Airplanes for Gary Allan and Don't for Billy Currington, both of which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Jonathan also co-wrote David Nail's Red Light (#7 on charts) and Josh Turner's Why Don't We Just Dance (#11 on the charts so far). Now it's time for Jonathan and the boys to have a top ten hit of their own. Enjoy!

PHOTO: Taylor Swift Buys A Big Girl Penthouse In Nashville

The Real Estalker is reporting that Taylor Swift has bought a 'Big Girl Penthouse' in Nashville. Here's the details from The Real Estalker:

According to our Robin Black who forwarded property records supporting his claim, Miss Swift forked over a very grown up $1,990,000 for her new bachelorette pad. According to The Adelicia's website, little Miss Swift's penthouse measures an adult-sized 4,063 square feet and includes 3 bedrooms and 4.5 poopers. Miss Swift's new home also has a double height living room wrapped in floor to ceiling glass and divided into two seating areas by a huge freestanding fireplace, a wrap around balcony, gore-may kitchen, dining room and an 80+ square foot wine storage room, which is kind of ironic if not particularly funny since Miss Swift is not old even enough to drink legally.

Two of Miss Swift's three bedrooms are on the main floor while the upper floor includes a study overlooking the living room, an entertainment room, laundry facilities, and a master bedroom with twin vanities, a glassy bathroom with separate tub and shower and a walk in closet larger than many studio apartments in Manhattan.

And, if you'd like to see exactly what Taylor's new digs look like, here's the blueprint. Enjoy!

Trace Adkins' Performing Ala Freakin' Bama Live In Concert

With Alabama about to play Texas in the national championship game in a few weeks, Trace Adkins' upcoming single Ala Freakin' Bama couldn't come at a better time. I'm actually on vacation for the holidays already, and my father and I were installing a new tile backsplash in my kitchen when this song came on the radio today.

Neither my dad nor I had heard the song before, but since I'm originally from Alabama, and my dad and mom still live in Dothan, Alabama, we both found ourselves singing along to this song by the end. Needless to say, I found myself still singing the chorus to this song long after it was over. Trace hasn't released a music video for the song yet, but here he is performing it live in concert a few nights ago. Enjoy!

PHOTO: Shania Twain's Face Is Actually Perfect

While I personally pretty much agree with the title of this post, it's not me that says Shania's face is perfect.  It's actually been scientifically proven to be perfect.  Here's the story from the BBC News:

Scientists believe they have worked out the dimensions of the most attractive female face.

They say the key to the ideal arrangement of female facial features is the measurements between the eyes, mouth and ears.

Applying their results, the Canadian pop singer Shania Twain was rated as having the perfect visage.

The study, led by the University of Toronto, appears in the journal Vision Research.

The researchers asked students to rate the attractiveness of colour photographs of the same woman's face, laid out side by side.

Using photoshop, the researchers altered the vertical distance between the eyes and mouth, and the horizontal distance between the eyes in each image.

The features themselves never changed, just the distance between them, and the woman's face was only compared to her own.

Following a series of experiments, the researchers came up with the most attractive length and width ratios between features.

On length, the distance between a woman's eyes and mouth should be just over a third or 36%, of the overall length of her face, from hairline to chin.

For width, they calculated that the space between a woman's pupils should be just under half, or 46%, of the width of her face from ear to ear.
To continue reading this article and find out who they say doesn't have the perfect face, go to this page on the BBC's website.

Brad Paisley's New Video For American Saturday Night

Amazingly, Brad Paisley's last single, Welcome to the Future, broke his streak of number one country hits. Welcome to the Future peaked at number two, and was his first single to not make it to number one since 2005's Alcohol. That was a streak of ten in a row. Overall, Brad has 14 Billboard Hot Country number one hits. American Saturday Night should be his 15th, but I also thought Welcome to the Future would make it to number one, so what do I know. It May Be Taylor Swift's Birthday, But Let's Not Forget Randy Owen's Birthday Is Today As Well

While Taylor is unquestionably the most popular country/pop artist in the world right now, and deserves everything's she's gotten this year, let's not forget that today is also the birthday of the lead singer of the undisputed kings of country music, Alabama. Randy Owen was born on this day back in 1949 in Fort Payne, Alabama.

I'll tell you a funny story about Alabama. When I was ten years old back in 1980, I checked the mail one day, and one of the things in there was a cassette promotion for five cassettes for a penny. Most of you are probably too young to remember these types of mail offers, but they used to flood mailboxes all the time. I secretly took the offer and filled it out and taped a penny to the form and mailed it back. The #1 cassette I wanted was Alabama's My Home's In Alabama. When the cassette's came in the mail, my mother was furious that (1) I had ordered them without her knowing, and (2) they had actually accepted an order from me, a ten-year old kid. I remember her calling them and blasting them for accepting the order.

The funny thing about this story is I loved Alabama because they were my mom's favorite band, and she had been wanting the tape. After she berated me for doing it, I gave her the tape, and she almost cried because she realized I had gotten it primarily for her. I've been a huge Alabama fan ever since. In honor of Randy's birthday, here's the song that caused me to want to get the tape. It's Alabama's My Home's In Alabama, which for those of you who follow this blog know is where I was born. Enjoy and happy birthday Randy!

Phil Vassar's New Video - Everywhere I Go

The most underrated singer in country music, Phil Vassar, is back with another video for the second single from his latest album Traveling Circus. Everywhere I Go is a great song, and it's already at #36 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of Phil Vassar's, and for the life of me, can't understand why he doesn't get more recognition. His first single from Traveling Circus was a fun song called Bobbi With An I, and if you haven't watched the music video for it, you need to check it out. It's pretty entertaining. Enjoy!

Love And Theft - Dancing In Circles - Official Music Video

Love and Theft are back with a great follow-up to their top ten debut single Runaway. Dancing In Circles is currently at #54 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Runaway has peaked so far at #10 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Love and Theft's sound might not appeal to traditional country fans, but they're definitely a hit with the younger, TaylorSwiftish country crowd (which makes sense, since they opened for her last year.) Enjoy!

PHOTO: Taylor Swift Before The Fame...Way Before The Fame...

Taylor's new straight hairdo from last night in NYC is causing quite a buzz among the celebrity tabloids this morning.

While looking at that photo, I came across this gem below. Yes, that is Ms. Swift before the fame. I'm not sure exactly how old she is in this photo, but it's fair to say, she wasn't a household name back then. Enjoy!
