CMT Cribs Featuring Kenny Rogers, James Otto and Heidi Newfield

I love watching MTV Cribs, so it was a natural that I'd love CMT Cribs. In fact, I like CMT Cribs better because it features the artists that I know a whole lot more about than some of the ones featured on MTV. Today, I'm featuring four videos that comprise the entire episode featuring Kenny Rogers, James Otto and Heidi Newfield. I think you'll enjoy it.

Carter Twins - Heart Like Memphis

The Carter Twins are a young new band that just released their first video for their first single called Heart Like Memphis. When I say young, I mean young. They're only 18 years old. Here's the scoop on these two talented young men from CMT.com:

"Growing up in Akron, Ohio, twins Josh and Zach Carter were surrounded by music from the time they were born. Their mother worked in country radio and encouraged their interest. Zach stole time at her piano while she taught Josh "Stairway to Heaven" on the guitar. The family moved to Hilton Head, S.C., when the brothers were 15, and they continued to craft their musicianship playing hundreds of live gigs while juggling a busy high school schedule.

In 2008, the Carter Twins were performing in Los Angeles and scored a chance meeting with an MTV executive who ultimately led them to CMT. The brothers recently completed high school and moved to Nashville to pursue their music career full-time under the development of CMT. Now 18 years old and still settling into their new digs, Josh and Zach spent the summer working with some of Music City's best songwriters and crafting as many as 30 songs in just three months. Under the helm of Frank Rogers, Billboard magazine's No. 1 country producer, the Carter Twins are working on their debut album for an anticipated release in summer 2009."

Lee Ann Womack Surprised Jamey Johnson By Telling Him He Had 3 Grammy Nominations

It seems that Jamey Johnson didn't even know that he'd been nominated for three Grammy awards until he hear Lee Ann Womack announce it while introducing Jamey at a recent concert. I'm happy for Jamey. I just hope he can follow up In Color with a string of hits. Enjoy!

I've been wondering what Cledus T. Judd was up to since he was let go from 94.9 the Bull here in Atlanta. Well, it looks like he's just been Waitin' On Obama... (I couldn't resist. The name of the song just fit perfect for that line.) The second video is an interview Cledus did with CMT Insider News Now talking about the song and video. Enjoy!

Jamie O'Neal - Like A Woman

Like a Woman is the first single from Jamie O'Neal's upcoming 2009 untitled new album. It debuted at #59 on the Billboard Hot Country charts back in November of '08, and it's currently sitting at #50. Jamie's had a tougher time of late charting singles, but she took the country world by storm back in 2000 when her debut single There Is No Arizona and her second single When I Think About Angels both went to #1 on the country charts and were top 40 hits on the pop charts as well. Maybe her new album will put her back on top. We shall see. Enjoy!

Carrie Underwood Is Dating Hockey Player Mike Fisher

It looks as if Carrie Underwood is trading in her football for a hockey stick. It seems that Carrie has been dating Canadian hockey star Mike Fisher for quite some time now. I wasn't very familiar with Fisher, so I found a video from YouTube with a profile about him. He sounds like a good guy. If you have any more information about them as a couple or about Mr. Fisher, please share. Thanks!

Ashton Shepherd Performing Sounds So Good Live In Kat Country 103's Studio

Ashton Shepherd is country. There's no two ways about it. And, she's real. She's from Leroy, AL, and I'm probably one of a handful of people who listen to her that not only know where that is, but have been there. (I'm originally from Dothan, AL, so I've been all over the place in South Alabama) This is a video of Ashton talking about her life and career as well as singing an acoustic version of Sounds So Good. The radio station is Northern California's Kat Country 103. Enjoy!

Sugarland - Stripped Performance of Their Hits

Sugarland have been on fire over the last couple of years. They've been playing to packed arenas all over the country, so it's nice to see them in a more intimate setting like these videos from their Stripped performance. I'm not sure exactly when this was done, but from the looks of both Kristian and Jennifer, my guess is early 2007. In this performance, you'll see them perform:
  • Something More
  • Baby Girl
  • Just Might Make Me Believe
  • Down in Mississippi
  • American Girl (Tom Petty Cover)
  • And, lastly, an interview about the performance
I hope you enjoy it.

Halfway to Hazard - Countrified

Back in 2007, Halfway to Hazard released their self-titled debut album. The first single they released from the album was a fantastic song called Daisy. It peaked at #39, but in my opinion, should have risen much higher. The first track from the album is called Countrified, and the boys recorded a music video for the song with a short introduction by Tim McGraw. Enjoy!

Marty Stuart - Tempted - Friday Flashback Video of the Week

I'm introducing a new feature on the site this year. It's the Friday Flashback Video of the Week. Every Friday, I'm going to flashback to the past and feature a video from one of today's or yesterday's stars.

This week, I'm featuring Marty Stuart's highest charting single Tempted, which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot Country charts back in 1991. Marty has never stopped performing, but unfortunately, today's country radio doesn't have much room for Marty's honky tonk brand of country. Although, if more artists like Jamey Johnson keep popping up on the radio, legends like Marty might make a comeback. Enjoy!
