Former Nashville Star semi-finalist Sean Patrick McGraw has been touring the U.S. relentlessly over the last year. His latest single is called Dollar Ain't Worth A Dime (MP3). I like how Sean describes his music, "something like Lyle Lovett singing Springsteen songs while wearing Dwight Yoakams' hat." That's pretty accurate if you ask me. Enjoy!
Strange (MP3) debuted at #39 on the Billboard Hot Country charts earlier this year. It's Reba's first single to debut in the top 40 of her career. Currently, it's at #15 on the charts. I have to say that Reba looks fantastic in this video. To me, she looks better at 54 than she did at 34. I hope Strange keeps moving up the charts because this is a great song. Keep calling your local radio stations and requesting the song. Let's help push it to the top. Enjoy!
Middle America is newcomer Mark McKinney's second official single. His first was a song called Bonfire from his debut album Get It On. Mark's first breakthrough came when his song The Myspace Song (MP3) was played on Howard Stern. Middle America has been released as a single only right now, and I'm not sure if it will be included on an upcoming album or not. If anyone knows, please let me know. Enjoy!
If you're as big a fan as I am of the Zac Brown Band, then you'll love this video. It's from their Unplugged at Studio 330 session. The song is called Highway 20 Ride (MP3), and in addition to this song, they also performed Chicken Fried, Whatever It Is and Toes. You can watch those other performances by clicking on the links. Enjoy!
Brad didn't release an official video for Then (MP3), and I haven't been able to find any footage of him performing the song live. But, this video is pretty cool because the audio quality of the song is awesome, and the lyrics are included. When the new Billboard charts are released tomorrow for the week of June 6, 2009, Then moves up to number one on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This is Brad's 10th number one single in a row. That's incredible. Enjoy!
This is Jay Leno's last week as host of The Tonight Show on NBC. The musical guest last night was country's own Dwight Yoakam. Before Dwight's performance last night, he made this heartfelt and impromptu speech. Dwight's a class act. We'll miss you Jay.
A few days ago, I featured a video of Pat Green performing Country Star live in concert. Today, here's Pat performing an acoustic version of his new single What I'm For (MP3) for a few lucky people. This is a good song with a great message for today. I wish our elected officials would listen to this song and practice what it preaches. It seems all we ever hear is what somebody is against, but we never really hear what they're actually for. Great song Pat. Keep it up! Enjoy.
Hank was born on May 26, 1949. The year Hank was born, Harry S. Truman was President, the first Volkswagen Beetle arrived in America, Joe Louis retired from boxing, Jim Roper won the first official NASCAR race, the Soviet Union tested it's first atomic bomb and The Lone Ranger premiered on ABC. Some other notable people who share May 26th as their birthday: Stevie Nicks (1948), Peggy Lee (1920), John Wayne (1907) and Jay Silverheels (1919) who played Tonto on The Lone Ranger series.
Happy Birthday Hank! I hope all your rowdy friends show up to help you celebrate.
Darius Rucker has been on fire ever since he released his first country single Don't Think I Don't Think About It. Both that single and his second single It Won't Be Like This For Long went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. His third single is called Alright (MP3), and it's just broken into the top 20 on the Hot Country charts. Here's Darius performing an acoustic version of the song at the Stanford Theatre located on the Nike headquarters campus in Beaverton, OR. Enjoy!
Newcomer Justin Moore's Small Town USA (MP3) is along the same lines as Jason Michael Carroll's Where I'm From and Montgomery Gentry's My Town (MP3). It just moved up into the top 25 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, moving from #28 to #24 this week. If you like this one, you'll love another one of his songs called I Could Kick Your Ass (MP3). For more about Justin, check out his Myspace page. Enjoy!
Watch as Cledus, accompanied by Butterbean at the beginning, pleads with Garth to come back. Unfortunately though, he's got better things to do like drive that mini-van... Enjoy.
Pat Green's latest single is called Country Star (MP3). It's a sarcastic look at today's country music stars. I love this song, and Pat does a great job of singing and visually describing the lyrics in this live performance from his CD release party at Wild Bill's in Duluth Georgia recently. Enjoy!
