A Video Look Back At The 2010 CMT Music Awards

Another CMT Music Awards has come and gone. What did you think of this year's show? CMT continues to push the envelope between country and pop, but unless you've been under a rock the last couple of years, that's the direction "popular" country music has been trending anyway. Love it or hate it, it's reality for now.

The host for this year's show was pop/rap/hard rock/country singer Kid Rock. Kid Rock and a host of other country stars opened up the show to Kid Rock's 1999 single Cowboy. He was joined on stage by Martina McBride, Kellie Pickler, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Zac Brown, Trace Adkins and Hank Williams, Jr. It was definitely a rockin' way to open the show. Here's a look at that video as well as some of the other performances from the night. Enjoy!

The Older, Wiser And Now Country Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now - The Country Version (Live)

For those of you who weren't born in the 70's or early 80's, then you might not have a clue who Tiffany is/was. With the exception of some publicity she received a few years back when she decided to pose for Playboy and a couple of top 20 dance hits a few years back, she hasn't had a major hit since her heyday in the late 80's when I Think You're Alone Now and Could've Been both went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

A couple of nights ago, she appeared at the Listening Room in Nashville and performed a new country version of her first number one hit I Think We're Alone Now. I'm curious what you think. Honestly, I like it better than the original, but that's probably because I was never a big fan of 80's mall pop music to begin with. Let me know your thoughts. And, for comparison sake, below this video is her 'mall pop' version from 1987. Enjoy!

Reba McEntire Becomes A 'Godmother'...

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - APRIL 05: Singer Reba McEntire arrives to Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night XIV at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa April 5, 2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona. (Photo by Chaley Gallay/Getty Images for Celebrity Fight Night)
...to a cruise ship! That's right. On July 2nd in New York, Reba will christen the newest Norwegian cruise ship, the Norwegian Epic. According to CMT.com:

Reba McEntire will christen the newest Norwegian cruise ship, the 4,400-passenger Norwegian Epic, during an on-board ceremony on July 2 in New York City. McEntire recently returned from a Mediterranean cruise aboard the Norwegian Gem, where she met Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan.

In addition to her christening duties, McEntire will be considered the godmother of the Epic. The ship will be more than 60 percent larger than any other Norwegian cruise ship at sea and will feature entertainment such as Blue Man Group, Cirque Dreams and Dinner, Legends in Concert, the Second City, Howl at the Moon and Nickelodeon at Sea.

I don't know about you, but I'd consider it an honor to cruise on a ship that's been christened by the Queen of Country Music!

Thompson Square Inviting You To Put Up Your Dukes And 'Let's Fight'

I wasn't familiar with Thompson Square until I saw this video today. In fact, I'd never even heard of them. But, I am very glad I stumbled across the video. I've already downloaded the MP3 from iTunes, and can't enough of the song. Just who are they? Here's how their Myspace profile describes them:

Thompson Square isn’t a real place, exactly. It’s the musical territory staked out by the husband-and-wife duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson, an exciting and unpredictable area where country meets rock, rough meets smooth and one vagabond heart finds a harmonious common ground with another. It’s the sweet destination where two journeys end and another one begins. “It’s the place where we create our thing, a little fantasyland where we live,” Keifer says. And now the rest of the world is invited to enjoy a nice, long visit."

What you think? Do you like this one as much as us? Enjoy!
