Dolly Parton's Interview With Katie Cook About Her New CD/DVD Live From London

CMT's Katie Cook sat down with Dolly to talk about her new CD/DVD Live From London. In the interview, Dolly answers some questions about how she chose the songs that she sang during the concert. If you've got about three minutes, give it a look. Dolly's always entertaining whether she's singing or just talking. Enjoy!

Friday #1 Flashback - Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John

Before he was hawking sausages, Jimmy Dean was known primarily as the "Big Bad John" guy. Big Bad John went to number one on the Billboard Hot Country charts on this day back in 1961. It also went to number one on both the Hot 100 and AC charts. I've always loved this song. Enjoy!

Jimmy Wayne's New Video - Sara Smile

Look at Jimmy Wayne... He's partnered up with 80's pop icons Daryl Hall and John Oates to cover their very first top ten hit, Sara Smile. Hall and Oates provide background vocals, and Jimmy does a great job on the lead vocals. This song is actually the lead single to Jimmy's album of the same name due out on November 24, 2009. The single is already at #32 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, making it Hall & Oates' first single to chart on the country charts. This one definitely has top ten written all over it. Enjoy!

Joe Nichols New Video - Gimme That Girl

It's been three years since Joe Nichols had a top ten hit (2006's I'll Wait For You peaked at #7), so I'm hoping this one will break that streak. Gimme That Girl is his latest single from his 2009 Old Things New album. Surprisingly, Believers, the first single from the album, only made it to #26 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. This one is at #37 right now. It's a good one. Enjoy and have a great day!

Terri Clark Performing If You Want Fire (Live Acoustic Performance)

If You Want Fire is Terri Clark's second top ten hit in a row on the Canadian Country charts. Gypsy Boots was the first one. Both songs are from her latest album The Long Way Home, which Reba tweeted about a couple of days ago: @Reba - Sure is some great music out right now. Just listened to Terri Clark's new CD. It's GREAT!!!!!!!!

I have to concur with Reba, The Long Way Home is great, and I wish more radio stations here in the States would play it. If you like this song, email/call your local radio station and request it. Terri deserves it. She's worked hard, and I'd like to see her songs back on top here in America. Enjoy!

The Oak Ridge Boys - Mama's Table - Written By Jamey Johnson

Mama's Table is the latest single from The Oak Ridge Boys. It was written by Jamey Johnson specifically for the Oak Ridge Boys. The song paints a picture of an America that for the most part has passed us by. Enjoy!

We pull a chair up every night and eat and talk and joke and fight
Us kids learned wrong from right at mama's table
With just some hickory wood and screws
It's where my daddy read the news
You didn't put your dirty shoes on mama's table

It was the center of the best times I remember
Sometimes the only thing that brought us all together
Grandma passed it down when I was in a cradle
It's in my kitchen now but it's still my mama's table

It's where my brother and I played games
I just knew he'd gone insane the day he carved his name in mama's table
And when we got down on our luck it seemed like it held us up
You could always feel the love in mama's table

It was the center of the best times I remember
Sometimes the only thing that brought us all together
Grandma passed it down when I was in a cradle
It's in my kitchen now but it's still my mama's table

It has some faded spots and cracks and a couple of burns from candle wax
A memory in each scratch on mama's table

Mama's Table can be found on their new album The Boys Are Back.

PBS Fast Focus Short Featuring Steve Earle

I've seen some of FastFocusTV.com's shorts on PBS before, but I had never seen this one on Steve Earle until I found it today. This is an interesting clip because it was filmed in 1986 when Earle was enjoying the tremendous success of his Guitar Town album, but was just about to enter the worst years of his life in regards to his drug addiction. It's chilling in the video to hear him talk about finding balance in his life. His music and voice though are incredible. I completely wore out my Guitar Town cassette. (Literally... the tape was shredded from fast forwarding and rewinding Guitar Town and Someday, my two favorites from the album)

If you don't own Guitar Town, I highly recommend you pick up a copy. It's that good. You probably want to get the CD now though, rather than the cassette. :)

#1 Flashback - Mary Chapin Carpenter's Shut Up And Kiss Me

This is a big day for Mary Chapin Carpenter. It's the anniversary of her only number one country hit so far. Back in 1994, her song Shut Up And Kiss Me topped the Billboard Hot Country charts. I thought she had more than just one number one, but Down At The Twist And Shout, He Thinks He'll Keep Her and I Take My Chances all peaked at number two. Enjoy this look back at a number one from one of the best singer-songwriters in country music.

By the way, if you want to see one of the best performances ever, check out Mary performing Opening Act at the 1990 CMA Awards. It was brilliant!
