If you haven't heard this song, please take a few minutes and listen to one of the last songs ever recorded by Johnny Cash. Ain't No Grave (Can Hold My Body Down) comes from American VI: Ain't No Grave, a posthumous album released yesterday. The recordings on this album were recorded at the same time as Johnny's American V: A Hundred Highways album, which was released in July 2006. Johnny And June Carter Cash Perform Jackson Live In San Quentin (1969)

Back on this day in 1967, Johnny and June recorded Jackson at Nashville's Columbia Recording Studios. In 1968, they won a Grammy award for their recording of the song. Even though it was a huge hit for them, it didn't quite make it to the top of the country charts, stalling at number two. Here they are performing the song live at San Quentin State Prison on February 24, 1969. Enjoy!

P.S. As a comparison, below Johnny and June is Joaquin and Reese's version from the 2005 Walk The Line movie in which they performed the song.

June passed away on May 15, 2003, but her memory lives on through both her music, the music of her husband, Johnny Cash, Johnny's daughter Rosanne Cash and Johnny and June's only child, John Carter Cash. My favorite song from June was Keep On The Sunny Side, which was officially released as a single back in 2003. Enjoy!
