Saturday Night Was A Good One For Blake Shelton And Miranda Lambert - Both Win Early ACM Awards

The ACM Awards air tonight on CBS, but last night, two awards were given out. Miranda Lambert won Video of the Year for her number one single White Liar, and Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins won Event of the Year for their number one hit single Hillbilly Bone. Incidentally, it was Miranda who persuaded Blake to pitch the idea of Hillbilly Bone to Trace, so it's sort of like her award as well. :)

Congrats to Miranda, Blake and Trace! I think it's gonna be one helluva show tonight. Enjoy a look at the videos for White Liar and Hillbilly Bone:

Trace Adkins' Performing Ala Freakin' Bama Live In Concert

With Alabama about to play Texas in the national championship game in a few weeks, Trace Adkins' upcoming single Ala Freakin' Bama couldn't come at a better time. I'm actually on vacation for the holidays already, and my father and I were installing a new tile backsplash in my kitchen when this song came on the radio today.

Neither my dad nor I had heard the song before, but since I'm originally from Alabama, and my dad and mom still live in Dothan, Alabama, we both found ourselves singing along to this song by the end. Needless to say, I found myself still singing the chorus to this song long after it was over. Trace hasn't released a music video for the song yet, but here he is performing it live in concert a few nights ago. Enjoy!

Trace Adkins' Every Light In The House Is On - Find Out Why This Song Means So Much To Trace...

Besides being Trace's first top five country hit (it peaked at #3 in 1996), I bet Every Light In The House Is On has a much deeper meaning to Trace. Back on this day in 1996, Trace made his Grand Ole Opry debut, and after singing this song, he dropped to one knee and called out his girlfriend Rhonda Forlaw and asked her to marry him. Fortunately for Trace, she said yes. Pretty cool, huh?

Trace Adkins - Arlington - Veteran's Day Video Marathon

Video number seven in our Veteran's Day Video Marathon is Trace Adkins' Arlington:

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down,
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown,
They gave me this plot of land, me and some other men,
for a job well done.

There's a big white house sits on a hill just up the road,
The man inside he cried the day they brought me home,
They folded up a flag, and told my mom and dad, 'We're proud of your son'.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

I remember daddy brought me here when I was eight,
We searched all day to find out where my granddad lay,
And when we finally found that cross,
He said, 'Son this is what it cost, to keep us free'.
Now here I am a thousand stones away from him,
He recognized me on the first day I came in,
And it gave me a chill, when he clicked his heels, and saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
And I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

And every time I hear, twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home, to us.

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we were the chosen ones,
We made it to Arlington, yea, dust to dust
Don't cry for us, we made it to Arlington.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Look Who's Going Out On Tour Together - Trace And Martina!

Trace Adkins and Martina McBride are heading out on tour together later this year. I like the combination of a male and female out on tour. With these two, it should make for an interesting crowd. Trace Adkins' 2005 Hit Video For Honky Tonk Badonkadonk

Honky Tonk Badonkadonk was a number two hit for Trace Adkins back in 2005. The video for the song premiered on CMT on this day back in 2005. The song was written by Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and another friend of theirs. They wrote the song one night while sitting in a dance club watching a girl dance. Houser came up with the title. Enjoy!

Trace Adkins' All I Ask For Anymore Video

Trace Adkins' latest single is called All I Ask For Anymore. It's the third single from Adkins' X album. Surprisingly, none of this album's singles have cracked the top ten on the Billboard Hot Country charts. The first single Muddy Water peaked at #22, the second Marry For Money at #14 and this single is currently at #21. Maybe the third time will be the charm. We shall see... Enjoy!

You Know You're A Country Star When...

People Magazine caught up with some of our favorite country stars on the red carpet at the 2009 ACM's, and asked them, "When do you know you're a country star?"

My favorite answer of them all comes from Trace Adkins when he said, "When people start selling your used cigarette butts on eBay." Only Trace would give an answer like that.

Go here to watch the entire video.

They Said What? Some Great Quotes From the 2009 ACM Awards

Reba McEntire referring to Phelps and Nelson's marijuana troubles: "Michael Phelps and Willie Nelson are teaming up to do an album. ... They're covering The Doobie Brothers."

Blake Shelton on how he handles his nerves on the red carpet: "I'm just drunk right now."

Trace Adkins after admitting that he never thought You're Gonna Miss This would be single, much less a #1 hit: "Glad I'm an idiot."

Taylor Swift in her acceptance speech for Album of the Year for Fearless: "If I talk to you for more than five minutes, I'm probably going to write a song about you."

Brad Paisley glancing over at Little Jimmie Dickens during his acceptance speech for Top Male Vocalist: "You could see we had the baby."

And lastly, the quote by Carrie Underwood after winning Entertainer of the Year that probably made Faith Hill turn beat red, "I feel like I just won American Idol all over again."

Trace Adkins' Official Music Video For I Can't Outrun You

Trace's latest single on the radio right now is one of my favorite songs out right now. It's called Marry For Money. He hasn't made a video for it yet, and I'm not sure if he is because he has released this video for I Can't Outrun You, which is another track from his latest album X. I Can't Outrun You hasn't been released as an official single yet, but I'm guessing it will be soon. This is one heck of a good country ballad, don't you think? Enjoy!
