Eric Church has had some hits, but I think Hell on the Heart is going to be his biggest so far. It's currently at #17 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, and I definitely see this one as a top ten hit. His only other top ten his was his last single Love Your Love The Most, which peaked at #10. Enjoy the new video, and if you don't have his new album yet, I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Carolina. It's a great album. Enjoy!
Michael is the name of an uncut song written by Eric Church. According to AmericanSongwriter.com:
“There’s a song I didn’t cut, called ‘Michael,’ that’s probably the greatest song I’ve ever written,” Church says. “It’s about an alcoholic, a guy that stands up and says, ‘Hey, my name is Michael.’ He talks about his wife and kids, Little League and stuff. ‘That’s what’s going on in my life without me,’ he sings, and that’s where the hook came from. It was such a heavy song. The disappointment of this record was not having that song on it. But I couldn’t put it anywhere on the record and recover.”
Here he is performing the song live. This is a great song and hopefully, he'll record it for an album someday. Enjoy!
In 1988, Steve Earle released his album Copperhead Road, and the first single of the same name actually appealed more to rock fans than country fans. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts, making it his highest charting single to date on the rock charts. It's sense become a fan favorite though among Earle's country and rock fans alike. Enjoy!
Today I'm going to look at an artist who's singing some great songs, but isn't featured on mainstream country radio. His name is Kevin Fowler, and he's been making country music since 1998 after he left a Southern hard rock band he had formed called Thunderfoot.
He self-released his first album, Beer, Bait and Ammo, in 2000, and it sold over 30,000 copies in Texas. He recently signed with Clint Black's independent label Equity Music Group (a label distributed by Koch Entertainment), and has released two albums under Clint's label.
Here he is performing his 2007 single, Long Line of Losers from his latest album called Bring It On. Enjoy!
Hank Williams, Jr. is being honored tonight on CMT's Giants at 9PM EST. In honor of this event, I found a great video of Hank and the late, great Johnny Cash performing Kaw-Liga live at the Grand Ole Opry. Enjoy!
