How cool would this be? It's Jonathan Singleton and the Grove performing their new single Look Who's Back In Love in Joe's BBQ restaurant in San Diego for a small group of KSON-FM listeners. Look Who's Back In Love is their second single from their still to be determined debut album.
Jonathan's no stranger to success though. He already has two number two hits on the Billboard Hot Country charts. He co-wrote Watching Airplanes for Gary Allan and Don't for Billy Currington, both of which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Jonathan also co-wrote David Nail's Red Light (#7 on charts) and Josh Turner's Why Don't We Just Dance (#11 on the charts so far). Now it's time for Jonathan and the boys to have a top ten hit of their own. Enjoy!
It seems that every year, holiday and Christmas music starts earlier and earlier. To get the ball rolling for what is sure to be a huge holiday music season, here's Gloriana, who won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award last night at the 2009 AMA awards, performing Silent Night. This performance was part of their Studio 330 Session from CMT.com. Enjoy!
Don't get me wrong, I love today's hot country stars like all the ones who partied last night at the CMT Music Awards, but there's something to be said about a country artist like Ashton Shepherd. She's authentic and real. She reminds me a lot of Gretchen Wilson. Ashton's a true country girl who just loves to play the guitar and sing. Here she is performing her single Sounds So Good on CMT's Unplugged at Studio 330. Enjoy!
For those of you like me who were in high school when Bryan Adams' Heaven was a hit single, you'll like this. It's a sneak peak at an upcoming episode of CMT Crossroads featuring Jason Aldean and Bryan Adams. In this video, Jason sings an acoustic version of Adams' Heaven. I think he does a pretty darn good job. What do you think?

A few days ago, I featured a video of Pat Green performing Country Star live in concert. Today, here's Pat performing an acoustic version of his new single What I'm For (MP3) for a few lucky people. This is a good song with a great message for today. I wish our elected officials would listen to this song and practice what it preaches. It seems all we ever hear is what somebody is against, but we never really hear what they're actually for. Great song Pat. Keep it up! Enjoy.
For a lot of country fans, In Color was the first time they were introduced to Jamey Johnson. Jamey's actually been around for a while now. In addition to being a fantastic singer, he's also known as a great songwriter. Jamey actually wrote Trace Adkins' hit single Honkytonk Badonkadonk. This video is from a live show Jamey did back in 2007 at The Grove in Los Angeles, CA. The video is a little jumpy, but the audio is great. Enjoy!
Dolly dropped by CMT's Studio 330 and did an updated and beautiful version of her hit single I Will Always Love You (Download MP3). She talks about how and why she wrote the song for Porter Wagner. Enjoy!
I found this video on YouTube today. It's Dierks being interviewed on the Today show by Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. Dierks is one relaxed dude that's for sure. It's a great interview, and he sounds great singing a track from his latest album Feel That Fire (MP3 Album) called I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes (MP3). Enjoy!
Here's one for all the die-hard Taylor Swift fans out there. The Outside (iTunes MP3) is one of the first songs Taylor ever wrote. She wrote it back when she was 12 years old, and it's about how she struggled with being on "the outside" looking in when she was in school. It's a track from her self-titled debut album. Enjoy!
You've heard the saying "making the best of a bad situation" right? Well, here's a fantastic example of that principle from the Zac Brown Band. Last year, the guys were stuck at a BP station in Arabi, GA, (the video says Adelphi, but it's actually Arabi) which is a tiny little town in south Georgia. Instead of complaining, they decided to break out the instruments and jam in the parking lot of the BP. The song they're singing is called Can the Circle Be Unbroken (By and By), which is a well-known country/folk song reworked by A. P. Carter from a hymn by Ada R. Habershon and Charles Gabriel. How cool is that?
If you haven't heard their newest single, Whatever It Is (iTunes MP3), check out the official video here. It's destined to be another #1 hit for the boys. Enjoy!
Ashton Shepherd is country. There's no two ways about it. And, she's real. She's from Leroy, AL, and I'm probably one of a handful of people who listen to her that not only know where that is, but have been there. (I'm originally from Dothan, AL, so I've been all over the place in South Alabama) This is a video of Ashton talking about her life and career as well as singing an acoustic version of Sounds So Good. The radio station is Northern California's Kat Country 103. Enjoy!
Sugarland have been on fire over the last couple of years. They've been playing to packed arenas all over the country, so it's nice to see them in a more intimate setting like these videos from their Stripped performance. I'm not sure exactly when this was done, but from the looks of both Kristian and Jennifer, my guess is early 2007. In this performance, you'll see them perform:
Well, just like last week, it's getting harder and harder to choose the cover of the week. After looking through a medley of different covers, I've chosen Billy Hurst's cover of Garth Brooks' The Dance. Billy has actually covered a lot of country songs, and you can view them all on his YouTube page here.
What do you think of Billy's performance? Let me hear from you. And, don't forget to drop back by on Wednesday the 31st to vote for the best cover of December. Thanks!
Week One: Joe Beerens - Brad Paisley's Waitin' on a Woman Week Two: Steven Foley - Garth Brooks' Ain't Going Down Week Three: Mike Easterday - Keith Urban's Stupid Boy Week Four: Christen Sawyer - Carrie Underwood's All-American Girl
Here's Jason and Jewel singing a duet they wrote together. It's called No Good In Goodbye. I'm not sure where this was, but how cool would it have been to be there? I love listening to artists' in small venues and bars. Their true personalities really shine through. Enjoy!
It's hard to turn on any country radio station right now without hearing Jamey Johnson's hit single In Color. Here's Jamey performing an acoustic version of the song from CMT's Unplugged at Studio 330. In Color has peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot Country charts so far. Enjoy!
Earlier this year, I featured Rissi Palmer's official music video for her single No Air. Here's Rissi performing the song live and unplugged courtesy of CMT's Unplugged at Studio 330. I think it's just a matter of time before the world starts taking notice of Rissi. She's got a fantastic voice. No Air was included on later presses of Rissi's self-titled debut album. Enjoy!
Here's a pretty cool video I found of Kenny singing Dave Loggin's song, Please Come to Boston live in concert. Kenny does a pretty good job. What do you think? Enjoy!
Darius Rucker's first country single, Don't Think I Don't Think About It, is spending it's second week at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Darius' second country single is called It Won't Be Like This For Long. Here's Darius performing an acoustic version live for some very lucky fans. Enjoy!
Days Aren't Long Enough is the latest single from Steve Earle's 2007 album, Washington Square Serenade. This song is a duet with his wife, Allison Moorer, who also did a duet with Kid Rock on his song, Picture. Enjoy!
Luke Bryan's latest single, Country Man, is currently sitting at #22 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Here's Luke performing an acoustic version of the song live in a record store. Enjoy!
