If you're not familiar with Blackberry Smoke, I think you're gonna like this one. This is just good ole' country rock music.
If you'd like to see them live, they're going to be performing at BamaJam next week in Enterprise, Alabama along with a ton of other artists including Kenny Chesney, Hank Williams, Jr., Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Travis Tritt, Gretchen Wilson, Danny Gokey, Houston County, Rodney Atkins, Chris Young, Randy Houser, LoCash Cowboys, Jamey Johnson, Matt Kennon, Jake Owen and many more. How's that for a music festival? Enjoy!

Here come the summer songs... Following up yesterday's post featuring Trailer Park's ode to summer, here's a good one from the LoCash Cowboys called Here Comes Summer. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely ready for a summer vacation. Enjoy!
This is my first time hearing the Rockaphones. They're a Swedish country rock band who've just released the following video for their single Molly. If you like their sound, check out their website at www.Rockaphones.com for more information. Enjoy!
For those of you like me who grew up listening to 80's rock hair bands, it's hard to listen/watch Bret Michaels without thinking of big hair and cheesy, yet catchy, hair band tunes. However, over the last decade, Bret has branched out as a solo artist and recorded a couple of country songs. Back in 2004, his duet with Jessica Andrews called All I Ever Needed actually made it to #45 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. He's got a new solo album coming out soon, and the first single released from the album is called Nothing To Lose, and it's being marketed as a country rock single. See what you think. This is the solo version. He's also recorded a duet version with Miley Cyrus. Enjoy!
If this is the first time you've heard the LoCash Cowboys, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is a good song that is appropriately called Good Song. Here's a great interview with Chris and Preston from a few years back that gives you a little background on their name, their style of music and where they're headed. Enjoy!
I don't know a a lot about Marty Falle, but I do know this. I really like this song. As you wind down (or wind up) your Saturday night, here's Marty's Hoochie Coochie Gal From The Buckeye State from his 2006 debut album Ohio. Enjoy!
The Drive-By Truckers' latest album The Big To-Do was released today. If you're not familiar with them, I'm going to let their bio from Amazon, which was written by either the band or one of their representatives tell you about them:
"Who the hell are the Drive-By Truckers? Five big, loud Southern Men. 4 from Alabama, 1 from South Carolina, 3 of whom now reside in Athens, GA; 1 in Birmingham, AL; and 1 in Center Star, AL (just outside of Muscle Shoals).
Hit the road in 1998, played over 400 shows in 2 1/2 years while recording and releasing (independently) 3 albums. Took six months off to fight, mix and raise the money to release their 4th album. Put out Southern Rock Opera themselves (September 12, 2001) and hit the road again, playing over 250 shows in 14 months. Was one of the few independent bands in recent memory to receive a 4-star review from Rolling Stone.
Signed with Lost Highway Records in May of 2002 (Southern Rock Opera re-released on major label July 2002) but parted ways and signed on with New West in 2003.
Sometimes referred to as DBT.
Mike Cooley plays guitar and sings. He grew up in Tuscumbia, AL (where Helen Keller came from). As a boy, he took guitar lessons from bluegrass legend Al Lester and saw Carl Perkins play The Hayloft Opry. Formed Adam’s House Cat with Patterson Hood in 1985. Plays really cheap beat up guitars, and tears them up when they act up. Don’t act up.
Earl Hicks plays bass. He produced 2 of DBT’s albums before joining the band in 2000. He grew up in Florence, AL (as did W.C. Handy). He is an avid wine drinker. He is sometimes known as Bird Dog. He has an acute sense of smell and his doppelganger is a dead man.
Patterson Hood plays guitar and sings. He began writing songs when he was 8 and has written over 3000 songs. Most of the first 2000 suck. He is a very stubborn man and the poster child for persistence. His father, David Hood, is a session musician from Muscle Shoals AL. He played on “I’ll Take You There” by The Staple Singers as well as songs by Bobby Womack, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Bob Seger, and Willie Nelson.
Spent much of his childhood on a farm in McGee Town, AL, just down the road from where Sam Phillips grew up.
Jason Isbell plays guitar and sings. He is from Green Hill, AL. At 24, he is somewhat younger than the rest of the band. He joined the band in the fall of 2001 on half a day’s notice and learned the show on stage in Norman OK. 2 days later he wrote the title cut for their new album “Decoration Day”.
Brad Morgan plays drums. He would not be caught dead playing congas. He would not be caught dead in a band with a saxophone. He hates saxophones. He comes from Greenville, SC. where Lynyrd Skynyrd played their last show before the plane crash. He looks swell in a bathrobe.
One of the best damn Rock and Roll Bands you’ll ever see."
Don't you wish every artist's bio was written like this? If you've never heard/seen DBT before, here's their music video for Never Gonna Change, a single from their 2004 The Dirty South album. Enjoy!
Eric Church has had some hits, but I think Hell on the Heart is going to be his biggest so far. It's currently at #17 on the Billboard Hot Country charts, and I definitely see this one as a top ten hit. His only other top ten his was his last single Love Your Love The Most, which peaked at #10. Enjoy the new video, and if you don't have his new album yet, I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Carolina. It's a great album. Enjoy!
It's a beautiful day here in Atlanta on this Sunday afternoon, and Hello Dave's new song Golden is the perfect song for a day like this. It's a happy-go-lucky type of song from this band from Chicago. They've released six albums, but this is the first song that I'm aware of that's been featured on CMT. If you know more about these guys, please feel free to share. Thanks!
Kick It In The Sticks is the first single released from Brantley Gilbert's 2nd album Halfway To Heaven, due out in stores on March 16, 2010. Now this is a rockin' country song!
This video is for my Twitter buddy @SAPope out in Las Vegas, NV. It's Kevin Welch's 1991 single Something About You. Enjoy!
P.S. Like Shirley, if there's a video you want to see, let us know about it. You can either send us an email at TodaysCountryMusicVideos@gmail.com or leave a comment on the site. Thanks!
Since Connor Christian is new to me, I'm going to let him tell you about himself via his website at www.connorchristian.com:
"Equal parts modern troubadour, back road poet and outlaw rocker, Connor Christian creates gritty, soulful songs of experience revealing solace in hardship, hope in destitution, and a dustbowl sensibility. His powerful music draws on influences ranging from Ryan Adams, G. Love, and Counting Crows to The Band and Tumbleweed Connection-era Elton John and makes a heartfelt statement found at the crossroads of Roots Rock and Americana."
Now, what I can tell you is this. After listening to this song just once, I found myself singing the chorus almost immediately. It's definitely a catchy tune. See what you think. Enjoy!
Guinevere is the fourth single released from the Eli Young Band's Jet Black & Jealous 2008 album. They've come a long way from playing in small clubs across Texas a few years ago to a world premiere video on the home page of CMT.com. Congrats guys! You deserve it.
While most casual country music fans are only familiar with the artists currently residing in the top 40 on the country charts, there are tons of great country bands out there. One of those bands that you may not be familiar with is Reckless Kelly. They're one of the awesome country bands from the Austin, Texas music scene. This song is called Stick Around, and it's from their 2005 album Wicked Twisted Road. I hope you enjoy it. To learn more about Reckless Kelly, visit their website at www.RecklessKelly.com and to sample all of their music, visit their Amazon.com store.
If you've been following my blog for the last few years, you know that I'm on a quest to expose as many people as I can to Cross Canadian Ragweed. They're one of, if not the, best country band in the world to see live. If you want to see what a C.C.R. concert is like, check out their video for I Believe You. The video below is for their song Look At Me, which was a great track on their 2001 Highway 377 album. Enjoy!
I hate to report sad news on Christmas, but I would like to ask everyone to keep Vic Chesnutt in your prayers today. Vic is reportedly in a coma after another alleged suicide attempt. If you're not familiar with Vic, visit his website at www.vicchesnutt.com and read about this talented singer/songwriter. Vic was partially paralyzed in a car accident when he was 18 years old, but discovered he could still play guitar. During recent years, his financial troubles have mounted, and may have become too much of a burden for him to take. For an example of how powerful his music is, here's Vic on stage performing his song Flirted With You All My Life...
Jypsi aren't your average country band. The look a little bit different than other country bands. They sound a little bit different than other country bands. And, all four band members are siblings, which is definitely a little bit different than other country bands. Their new single is called Mister Officer, and it's the lead single from an upcoming album that is still to be determined. Enjoy!
For those of you who've been following my blog for the past few years, you'll know that I'm a big fan of Cross Canadian Ragweed. They're definitely one of the greatest live bands you'll ever see. This performance is from a concert in Dallas on New Year's Eve in 2007 at the House of Blues. This song is called Constantly. Enjoy!
Two years ago today, Shooter (@TennesseeWolf) played a Jazz festival in Rochester, NY. Here he is playing his first and most popular single so far, 4th of July. Enjoy!
Hank Jr.'s daughter Holly released her second official single of her career today. It's called Keep the Change. It's from her second TBD album that scheduled for release this year. The first video below is an interview from CMT Insider featuring Holly talking about the new single and album, and the second video is the official music video for Sometimes, her first single from her 2004 first album The Ones We Never Knew.
