Daily Country Music News Briefs - Tuesday, November 27, 2007 - Lead Story - A Special Concert for Rodney Atkins

Today's lead story is a good one for the holiday season. Rodney Atkins is putting on a concert for the Make-A-Wish foundation on December 2, 2007 to honor the memory of a little girl who succumbed to bone cancer at the age of 7.

Rodney met her when he read an article in the Detroit Free Press about the little girl and the girl mentioned that Rodney's song, If You're Going Through Hell was her favorite song. He flew to see her the next day and sat with her for about five hours. In this day and age of spoiled and pampered celebs, it nice to read some good news about them for a change.

Here's an excerpt from the article: Rodney visited on one condition: He didn't want any media attention. He wanted all of his energy to be devoted to Maddie. "He spent, like, five hours with her," Paul said. "He told me his plan was to come and stay with her until she was absolutely out of energy. He was staying until she tuckered out. I was really impressed with the man. He had a big heart." When Maddie went home to die, an autographed picture of Rodney was stuck to the wall, above her pillow.
