Miley Cyrus Calls Country Music 'Contrived On So Many Levels'

In a Parade magazine interview, Miley Cyrus has this to say about the country music scene:

"It scares me, that's why. It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you're wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it's not going to sell. I think that's why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all."

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not losing any sleep because I won't be hearing any more Miley Cyrus songs on country radio...

Watch Miley Cyrus' New Video For Her Single The Climb

It looks like Miley's duet with papa Billy Ray wasn't her last venture into the country music arena. Her latest single is called The Climb from the upcoming Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack, and it's got a decidedly country sound to it. And, it's featured on the homepage of CMT.com today, so you can bet country radio is probably going to push the single pretty hard. Especially considering the success that a number of cross-over artists had last year (Darius Rucker, Jessica Simpson, Jewel and Robert Plant to name a few). This song definitely has a much more grown-up feel to it. It might do pretty well on the charts. We'll have to see. For now, enjoy the video.
