The problem was the owner had been tipped off that they were coming, and it was closed up, locked up and the power was off. Here's a news report about the event and what transpired as well as couple of videos shot by a local observer who was present at the event. I'm originally from Dothan, AL, and I can tell you from friends that still live there, Country Crossing is one of the best things that has happened to the city. Besides the thousands of new jobs created, the entire area has been infused with hundreds of thousands of dollars, and untold millions to come over the next few years.
And, more importantly for country music fans, it's an awesome venue that's set to attract some of the top names in the business. The developer is the same guy (Ronnie Gilley) who's behind Bama Jam, which is already one of the largest outdoor country music festivals in the world. It would really be a shame if the doors were shut on Country Crossing. I'll keep you posted as this story develops.
